Chief Financial Officer (Permanent/Brisbane)

5FT View Consulting is conducting a confidential executive search on behalf of an international mining company headquartered in Brisbane, Australia. Our client seeks a seasoned Chief Financial Officer to lead the full financial function through a transformative growth phase that includes a planned US public listing. This is a permanent, on-site leadership role reporting directly to the CEO and Board of Directors.
Responsibilities:
  • Financial leadership: Own the complete financial strategy of the organization, including capital structure, forecasting, budgeting, treasury, tax, and investor relations.
  • IPO execution: Lead all aspects of the planned US public offering, including SEC registration, prospectus preparation, auditor coordination, underwriter selection, and post-listing compliance.
  • Regulatory reporting: Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting under US GAAP, IFRS, and Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), including consolidated statements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Internal controls: Implement and maintain a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliant internal control environment, including financial systems, audit readiness, and risk management protocols.
  • Mining-sector finance: Oversee financial operations specific to the mining sector, including reserves accounting, depletion, asset retirement obligations, royalty structures, and capital project economics.
  • Treasury and capital management: Manage banking relationships, debt facilities, and currency hedging strategies across AUD, USD, and other operating currencies.
  • Strategic transactions: Partner with the CEO and Board on M&A evaluation, joint ventures, offtake agreements, and commodity exposure.
  • Team leadership: Build and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team, including controllers, FP&A, tax, and investor relations functions.
  • External engagement: Serve as the primary financial liaison to investors, analysts, rating agencies, and regulatory bodies in both Australia and the United States.
Qualifications:
  • Required credentials: Certified CPA or CMA-CFO with active credentials in good standing.
  • Accounting standards mastery: Demonstrated expertise in US GAAP, International Accounting Standards (IFRS), and Australian Accounting Standards, including the intersection and reconciliation of all three.
  • US IPO experience: Proven hands-on experience taking a company public in the United States, with working knowledge of SEC requirements, Form S-1/F-1 filings, roadshow execution, and first-year public-company reporting obligations.
  • Executive experience: Minimum 15 years of progressive finance leadership, with at least 5 years in a CFO or equivalent senior executive role. Mining, resources, or heavy-industry experience strongly preferred.
  • International operations: Experience leading finance functions across multiple countries, currencies, and regulatory regimes.
  • Systems and technology: Strong command of ERP and financial consolidation systems, with a track record of modernizing finance technology stacks.
  • Communication: Executive presence and demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial matters clearly to boards, investors, operators, and regulators.
  • Location: Residence in or near Brisbane is strongly preferred. Local candidates will receive priority consideration. Relocation may be considered for exceptional candidates.
Compensation & Logistics:

Compensation Range: $250,000 – $350,000 (AUS) base (excluding superannuation and shared performance rights). This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.

  • Base salary: Competitive executive base salary, quoted in Australian Dollars (AUD). Specific range disclosed to qualified candidates under NDA.
  • Employment type: Permanent, full-time. On-site in Brisbane with periodic travel to operating sites and US investor engagements.
  • Reporting structure: Reports directly to the CEO, with regular engagement with the Board of Directors.
  • Start date: Targeting end of Q2/beginning of Q3.
