Responsibilities:
- Marketing strategy: Develop a federal-focused marketing strategy tailored to civil and structural engineering service lines, targeting priority agencies, prime contractors, and teaming partners. Define the firm’s value proposition and differentiators relative to 8(a) peers and full-and-open competitors.
- Brand and positioning: Establish or refresh the firm’s brand architecture, visual identity, messaging framework, and executive narrative. Ensure consistency across proposals, capture materials, website, and client-facing collateral.
- Capture and BD support: Partner with Business Development and capture managers to produce agency-specific marketing assets, past performance packages, capability statements, and proposal boilerplate that measurably improve win rates.
- Digital presence: Lead website redesign, SEO, and content strategy. Build a LinkedIn-led thought leadership program for firm principals to elevate credibility with federal agency decision-makers.
- Content and thought leadership: Develop case studies, white papers, project highlights, and speaking opportunities that demonstrate technical depth and differentiate the firm in target markets.
- Performance metrics: Own and report on the marketing scorecard. Key performance indicators include:
- Marketing-sourced qualified opportunities
- Pipeline influence and contribution to capture
- Brand awareness within target agencies
- Website engagement and inbound lead quality
- Proposal win rate uplift attributable to marketing assets
Qualifications:
- Executive experience: Proven experience as a CMO, VP of Marketing, or senior marketing leader, preferably within the AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) or professional services sector serving federal clients.
- Federal market expertise desired but not required: Demonstrated understanding of federal buying cycles, agency marketing, and the distinct positioning considerations for 8(a) and small disadvantaged businesses.
- AEC knowledge helpful: Familiarity with civil and structural engineering service lines, including infrastructure, facilities, vertical construction support, and design services.
- Strategic capability: Ability to translate business strategy into actionable marketing plans with clear ROI. Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on in a lean environment.
- Execution track record: Demonstrated ability to deliver brand, digital, content, and capture marketing programs from plan through launch.
- Communication: Excellent writing, storytelling, and executive communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with firm leadership, technical staff, and federal agency audiences.
Compensation & Logistics:
- Rate: $150 to $300 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Phase 1 commitment: Approximately 10 to 15 hours per week for 4 weeks to deliver the strategy and plan.
- Phase 2 commitment: Ongoing execution support, scope and hours scaled to approved plan.
- Employment type: Fractional, part-time.
- Reporting structure: Reports directly to the Founder.
- Start date: Immediate
